Fisher-Price Snuga Swing Recall
Fisher-Price and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), have announced a recall of over 2 million Snuga Infant Swings. The decision came after reports of five infant deaths, where the product’s design posed significant suffocation risks.

Tragic Deaths Caused by Snuga Swing
Between 2012 and 2022, five infants aged 1 to 3 months tragically lost their lives due to suffocation while using the swings for sleep. Many of the incidents involved improper use of the product, including the presence of additional bedding materials and infants being left unrestrained.
CPSC Recommendations
The CPSC has emphasized that these swings are not designed for infant sleep. Adding extra bedding, such as pillows or blankets, significantly increases the risk of suffocation.
Consumers are urged to stop using the product immediately and remove the headrest and body support insert. While Fisher-Price is offering a $25 refund for compliance with these recommendations, some consumer safety advocates, including CPSC Commissioner Richard L. Trumka Jr., argue that the swings should be discarded entirely to protect infants from potential harm.
Ongoing Issue with Fisher-Price
This isn’t the first recall involving Fisher-Price. The company faced scrutiny in 2019 when its Rock ‘n Play sleeper was recalled following links to over 100 infant deaths. Despite the recall, reports suggest that many of these dangerous products remain in use.
Next Steps for Consumers
If you own a Fisher-Price Snuga Swing, discontinue its use immediately. Contact Fisher-Price for detailed instructions and to claim the $25 refund. Customers can reach the company at 855-853-6224. The CPSC also advises caregivers to always follow the American Academy of Pediatrics’ safe sleep guidelines: place infants on their backs on a flat, firm surface free of soft bedding or loose items.
