On May 22, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a formal recall of Nezmdi infant swings.
The swings pose significant risks of suffocation and death due to multiple federal safety violations. Approximately 1,420 units are affected by the recall.
These swings, sold exclusively on Amazon.com, were available to consumers between September 2024 and February 2025. The product, listed under model number S0008.
Why Are Nezmdi Infant Swings Being Recalled?
The CPSC has identified multiple safety issues with the Nezmdi infant swing that put infants in danger. The two main concerns are:
Unsafe Incline for Infant Sleep
The Nezmdi infant swing exceeds the federal incline limit of 10 degrees for sleep products intended for infants. This violates the Safe Sleep for Babies Act and related federal safety standards.
A steep incline can cause an infant’s head to tilt forward, restricting their airway and increasing the risk of suffocation.
Products designed for infant sleep must meet strict incline regulations to ensure safety during rest or sleep.
Missing Warning Labels and Battery Ingestion Risk
The swing includes a remote control powered by a button-cell (coin) battery. These types of batteries are known hazards if swallowed by young children.
According to Reese’s Law, products that include such batteries are required to display specific warnings on both the product and the packaging. The Nezmdi swings fail to provide these mandatory safety labels.
Without appropriate warnings, caregivers may be unaware of the ingestion danger, increasing the risk of injury or death.
Legal Rights for Affected Families
Although the manufacturer is cooperating with the recall, families affected by these swings may still have legal options. Under U.S. product liability law, manufacturers and distributors can be held accountable for:
- Selling defective or unsafe products.
- Failing to include appropriate safety warnings or labels.
- Negligence in product design or testing.
If your child was injured or endangered while using a Nezmdi infant swing, you may be entitled to compensation for:
- Medical treatment or hospitalization.
- Ongoing therapy or rehabilitation.
- Emotional trauma or pain and suffering.
- Wrongful death
